Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community had expressed its support for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
